NTT Electronics has developed HHC11000, 4K/60p H.265/HEVC encoder supporting 4:2:2 chroma sampling
— Demonstration of this new product will be at IBC2015 —
September 9, 2015

Based on the high-performance, high-compression H.265/HEVC encoding technology ( *1 ) developed by NTT Media Intelligence Laboratories, NTT Electronics Corporation (NTT Electronics) has developed HHC11000, an UHD (Ultra High Definition) 4K/60p 4:2:2 chroma sampling support, H.265/HEVC real-time encoder. This product will be available in March 2016.

The new product supports Main 4:2:2 10 profile, which is the high quality video standard for professional use in HEVC, and allows high-quality real time distribution of 4K UHD video. The built-in high quality HEVC single chip LSI capable of taking full advantage of the HEVC compression performance has enabled downsizing and low power consumption, which have been difficult to achieve with conventional high-performance general-purpose processors and other devices. It also supports the HD video format, which is the mainstream broadcasting format at present, making it possible to distribute HD video as well as 4K video.

This product will be exhibited at IBC2015 (at the NTT Group booth located at C58 in Hall 2), which is Europe’s largest broadcast equipment/broadcast technology exhibition to be held in Amsterdam during September 11-15. At IBC2015, NTT Electronics will demonstrate 4K video distribution jointly with NTT Media Intelligence Laboratories.

*1
An H.265/HEVC encoder technology developed by NTT Media Intelligence Laboratories. It developed an UHD 4K/60p HEVC real time encoder LSI (development code name NARA: an abbreviation of Next-generation Encoder Architecture for Real-time HEVC Applications), which is comply with the Main 4:2:2 10 profile for the first time in the world.

*2
FireFort®-LDGM FEC
An FEC (Forward Error Correction) technology developed by NTT Network Innovation Laboratories, which is one of the error correcting codes for IP packet based on LDGM (Low Density Generator Matrix) code. While FEC is a technology that enables detection and correction of error on the receiving side by adding redundant data to the original data, FireFort®-LDGM FEC has features of low computing load and strong error correction capability. It exhibits superior error correction capability compared to Pro-MPEG FEC and can effectively correct burst packet losses that occur during large capacity communication.
