Ultra-low latency (less than 20 msec!) full-HDTV MPEG-2 encoder LSI "MACH ENC" and decoder LSI "MACH DEC"

The MPEG-2 single-chip LSI, which makes it possible to encode and decode HDTV images, is perfect for systems that require low latency, such as transmission of live images, interactive video communication, surveillance cameras, and home video and TV equipment designed for wireless connections.

Booth demonstration

We performed a demonstration using a game console to simulate a connection between a game console and a wireless TV. By achieving an ultra-low latency of less than 20 msec in encoding and decoding game images, the demo showed visitors they could enjoy games on a wireless TV without lowering the quality of the game controller. Our products also attracted the close attention of attendees from companies making surveillance solutions that require low latency, as well as makers of digital signage equipment.

AVC/H.264 video codec LSI "PINEA" supporting PCI-Express interfaces for PCs

Product overview

The AVC/H.264 video codec LSI, which makes it possible to encode and decode images on HDTV, is a low-price, high-performance single-chip LSI. The LSI, which allows high-speed transmission and is compatible with the widely used PCI-Express interface, is suitable for image equipment with interfaces that meet the PCI-Express standard. It has a simple design structure and can be used for a variety of purposes.

Booth demonstration

We performed a demonstration using simulated images. The "PINEA" image compression LSI offers AVC/H.264 codec processing capable of performing high-performance operations and efficient data compression without putting a heavy load on PC CPUs.

"Matiz": The world's first single-chip HDTV transcoder LSI (MPEG-2 to AVC/H.264)

Product overview

Matiz is the world's first single-chip transcoder LSI that transcodes HD and SD MPEG-2 contents into AVC/H.264 contents. This reduces the content size without losing any quality from the images, and enhances the storage and transmission of data.

Booth demonstration

We used two large-screen displays showing MPEG-2 images and images transcoded to H.264. The demo allowed attendees to verify that the LSI can compress data by half without losing the quality of the images. Many attendees showed interest in using the LSI for STBs with recording functions or hard disc recorders with increased recording time storage.

Lecture at Computex Taipei Forum NGN 2008

We presented a lecture entitled "Compression Technology Immerses NGN Consumer in HD" at the "Computex Taipei Forum NGN 2008" seminar to explain trends concerning HDTV image technology for the broadband age and the need for image compression technology. We performed a demonstration using a video game console and the audience participated in the demonstration to experience ultra-low latency encoding first-hand.
