NTT Electronics to Exhibit New Products and Technologies at “NAB 2009”
March 31, 2009

NTT Electronics Corporation will jointly exhibit with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) at NAB 2009. This is the world's largest electronic media show and is held from April 20th till the 23rd in Las Vegas, USA.

NTT Electronics booth will exhibit new products that Professional 4:2:2 IRD “HVD6100”, multi-channel encoder and encoder / transcoder LSI. In addition, the exhibit will use the large-screen displays to demonstrate AVC/H.264 codecs supporting 4:2:2 Chroma for content transmission, devices for broadcast equipment and AVC/H.264 codec solutions for content creation.

And also, it will show the next generation codec technology that reflects the rapid future changes of AVC/H.264.

The booth is located at booth No.SU11617 (Codec Systems), SU11723 (LSI and Modules). The following products will be on display.

Real-time codec solutions

Professional 4:2:2 IRD “HVD6100”

HVD6100 is the world's first professional IRD that combines decoder functionality with support for AVC/H.264 HDTV, 4:2:2 chroma with a DVB-S2 demodulator. The decoder function supports multi-format (AVC/H.264 and MPEG-2, 4:2:2 / 4:2:0 chroma and HDTV/SDTV) and comes equipped with a variety of features such as HDTV/SDTV resolution conversion. The demodulator function supports DVB-S2, DVB-DSNG and DVB-S formats for high-performance satellite transmissions.

MPEG-2 HDTV/SDTV Multi-Channel Encoder “MPC1010”

The MPC1010 is a digital broadcast platform that can be installed with multiple MPEG-2 HDTV/SDTV encoders which allows for high image quality, high reliability and high cost performance. With an encoder IC that provides high-quality MPEG-2 videos, the unit supports both HDTV (1080i and 720p) and SDTV (576i and 480i) standards.

AVC/H.264 HDTV/SDTV encoder/decoder “HV9100 Series”

With an AVC/H.264 CODEC LSI chipset built-in that supports 4:2:2 Chroma, the HV9100 Series provides high-quality and low latency in a wide range of bit rate. It supports MPEG-2 format for smooth transition from existing MPEG-2 equipment to the up-and-coming AVC/H.264 format.

Devices for transfer equipment

AVC/H.264 HDTV real-time codec LSI supporting PCI Express interface “PINEA”

PINEA is a single-chip solution that delivers high-quality video compression and playback while reducing the processing load on personal computers and networks. It supports H.264/AVC, a next-generation video compression format that provides twice the compression of MPEG-2.

AVC/H.264 Encoder/Decoder LSIs and modules “SARAENC/SARADEC LSI”, and “SARAENC/SARADEC Module”

The “SARAENC” AVC/H.264 encoder LSI and “SARADEC” decoder LSI inherit the world-class video compression technology of NTT Electronics' highly-acclaimed “VASA/C” MPEG-2 LSI. The “SARAENC Module” and “SARADEC Module” support both HDTV H.264 and MPEG-2, and include built-in high-speed memories. The SARA LSIs are highly-praised by broadcasters worldwide and are especially useful in applications such as SNG and FPU systems.

Single-chip LSI for real-time transcoding from MPEG-2 to AVC/H.264 “Matiz”

Super-Compact Full High-Definition MPEG-2 Encoder Module “LibraENC Module”

Codec solutions for content creation

Software encoder (jointly exhibited with NTT-AT)

AVC/H.264 HDTV software encoder SDK “HDVE-100EncoderSDK” is the optimum H.264 encoder SDK which can easily install to an application and system of creation of contents for services that require high visual quality and compression rate, such as IPTV VoD service. HDVE-100EncoderSDK supports more effectively encode process with technology of distributed arithmetic processing on an environment of multi-core processor or multi-CPU.

Latest Technology for the Next Generation

SVC Real-time Software Codec (technology exhibited by NTT Cyber Space Laboratories)

Scalable video coding (SVC) generates various types of SNR, spatial and temporal resolution images from a single coded stream. In order to adapt various network/display conditions in recent years, SVC has been standardized by ISO and ITU-T. NTT has been conducting advanced research on high-speed, efficient SVC coding algorithms. We can achieve the world's first software based codec system of SVC that can encode/decode Full-HD(1920x1080 pixels) images in real-time.
